Donated Money For Haiti Relief? Now Keep a Track of its Spent

The Haiti earthquake disaster which struck last January led to a lot of destruction. Numerous charitable organizations and trusts came forward to help the natural calamity struck region. High donation amounts were generated and sent to Haiti but no one knew where the money was being spent. In order to keep a track of the spending Haiti Government has joined hands with United Nations (UN) and created a website which will assure tracking donation amounts and the places where it is being spent.

The site aims at keeping transparency between the donors and accountability for their donated money. It will keep a track of where the money is being spent for what purpose and by whom. It will also allow Haiti residents to follow how the developments are taking shape around them.

138 countries have promised to raise $5.3 billion for Haiti over the next 2 years and $9.9 billion over the next 3.

The website concept is a good move and will encourage donors to donate more money after they know their money is in safe hands and is being spent wisely for the benefit of the region and its people.

After the earthquake the Island has seen a slump in its economic growth as the businesses are still struggling to cope up. The re development process will take some more time and amidst all this a lot of funds are required to get life back to normal. Till then the website will keep people informed about the developments and monetary spent.
